New York and Company Purse Mini Haul

So I went to NY&Co to check out their sale. This trip would have been a complete bust had it not been for all the wonderful purses that were on sale. I only bought purses and 2 belts. It took 2 separate trips to 2 different malls but alas I rose victorious. These were my honorable mentions

Turnlock Hobo Bag  (bought in the medium pink) This doesn't look as plastic in person

Pleated Flap Bag- (shared the love on this one. Bought in plum and teal for me and brown for a friend) This bag is perfect for school. It has just enough room for my text book and I could probably fit my laptop in as well. Sweet

Paneled Stretch Belt- ( Bought in gunmetal...fancy word for silver..ha) This was one that I really just had to have. It's beautiful in person.

That's not all folks. I bought 2 other purses which I'm just in love with. I have to take pics of them to post because I just love them so much and I cant seem to find them online.

SIDE NOTE: One of my readers sent me an email coupon for 30% off in stores as well. Shoot me an email and I will gladly forward this to you. Thanks TH.

New York and Company Sale

I love NY&Co and I usually find great bargains there. However I've been less than impressed with my last few visits there. They now have a up to 70% off clearance with an additional 30% off online only. Is this new sale enough to make me get out of bed and make the trip to the mall? Yea probably. The online deals are awesome I'm actually pretty excited. Here are a few that I'll be looking out for :

Paneled Stretch Belt- $6.99

Metallic Brocade Pencil Skirt-$19.99

Velvet Tunic Dress- $9.99

Knit Tunic Dress- $9.99

Embellished Necklace Statement Tunic-$14.99

Faux Leather Bomber Jacket-$44.97

This is just a few that caught my eye without digging too much. These prices do not include that extra 30% off. As much as I hate paying shipping cost, I just might have to bite the bullet if some of these are not in stores. Shipping would cost me around $10 so if my potential savings of the 30% outweighs the prices i would pay instore plus shipping, it would then be worth it to buy online. I'll still go to the mall tomorrow with my calculator and pen in hand to compare prices and check how the sizes fit.

Almost 2010

My, this year just flew by. So many things happened this year that undoubtedly affected many people. So what have we learned and how will we apply this knowledge into the future. My knowledge of fashion and putting pieces together has taken on a whole new light thanks to the awesome blogs, magazines and just random people I see on the street. I can truly appreciate the individuality that goes into each look. School for me starts again in January and as excited as I am to be finishing my undergrad work, I'm pretty hyped about actually going to class and being able to be more creative in the things that I wear. My typical class uniform, yes uniform, includes jeans and a tee, that’s it. No accessories no make-up usually oh and lets not forget the signature black flip flops.

Yea, pretty drab. Not much inspiration here. But this can easily become so much more with a few additions and simple changes.

This is much better. I think it looks way more thought out but it's not over doing it for an early morning class.

All White Affair

I have a Christmas Eve event to attend and it's an All White Affair. Breaking all the rules about white after Labour day blah blah blah. I'm at a loss on exactly what I should wear. This is not a formal event by any means. It's the night club scene. I put together a few looks I could go for. What do you think?

I of course may deviate from any of these basic looks but they represent the two options I'm going for.

More bargains at Charlotte Russe

Ok Charlotte Russe is quickly becoming on of my "must stops" whenever I hit the mall. I've been on a roll with them lately on the bargain tip. I bought a super chic black blazer at New York and Company a few weeks back but I've been on the hunt for another one with more character.
So I stumbled across this baby.

I loved the sexy shape I had in it and also the deep plum colour was quite delicious.

And my favorite part was the price. $9.99 marked down from $36.99. What a steal! I will say that my only hang up with this blazer are the buttons. They look very cheap but that is an easy fix. I will find better buttons and so a quick alteration.

Mini Update

I'm seriously going through withdrawal. I'm having major connection issues over the past week so unfortunatly posting has been slow. I hope to have this resolved over the next day or two so please hang in there with me while I get all the kinks hopefully permanetly fixed. Christmas shopping has really been a serious drag. I've got some things done but still have much more to go.  For the upcoming blog posts I have the review of the L'Oreal mascara featured here, as well as some awesome deals I got at none other than Charlotte Russe and New York and Company. My first vlog post will also be up in a few as well. So tons of things to come. Stay tuned.

Kim Kardashian Looks Simple Yet Feirce

This is a prime example of how a simple accessory can set an outfit off into the rafters. There really isn't anything severely special about this look but OMG can we take a look at the beautiful gloves. Sweet leather studded perfection indeed.

Here's an alternate look

Pants: Macys: $22.90
Blazer: Yoox: $39.00
Belt: F21: $5.80
Shoes: F21: $22.80
Gloves: Phillip Lim: $395

Obviously I don't expect any of us to pay $395 on these gloves. Why not use color to pop this instead of studs?

Alfani Gloves, Cashmere Lined Leather- $32.99

We can mix this look up a little bit by wearing a different color blazer or wearing all black and using a hot bag or a nice color shoe to set it off.

Macys One Day Sale Tomorrow

Oh how I love this savings pass, let me count the ways. This shopping trip should not be solo. Why? Because you can only use 1 pass per check out. The pass is $10 of $25 or more purchase. That means if you but $60 worth of goodies you only get $10 off. But, if you have friend #1 you each will split the items and thus saving $20 on everything instead of $10. Yes this is a very simple concept but so many, including myself just forgets. If you must go alone, then maybe try to split your purchases so you can take full advantage of the savings pass.

If You Like It And It's On Sale: Throw A Belt On It

Yes I am fully aware of how corny the title of this post is. Hey I get corny sometimes..ha . But among the "clever" title, there is a true lesson to be learned. A belt is one of the most important accessories for an outfit. Case in point. I went to Target yesterday for a gift bag, yes a gift bag. Anywho I went to the clothing section to the 75% off rack and there was this dress:

Obviously this dress is too big. 3 sizes too big to be exact.

I had a dilemma!! The size is wrong but the price is oh so right. What to do?!?!?

You guessed it, throw a belt on it

Yes this is the same exact size dress. I just grabbed a belt prior to fitting to test how I liked it. Now this probably won't work if you're a size 8 and want to buy a size 16 however it will in most reasonable cases. Some dresses based on the design cuts will not be forgiving when it comes to "belting", but you won't know until you try.

Maam What Size Do You Need..................?

.......Excuse me, what size do you have?

I have been pleasantly surprised and perplexed by the exact science of shoe sizes. My go-to size is a 9. However, I can fit 8.5 up to size 10 comfortable. And to complicate the matter further, my right foot is in some cases a .5 size bigger than the left. I'm weird I know. Unfortunately this makes it a little harder for me to be confident when buying shoes online. Charlotte Russe always puts their last sizes on sale at 50% off so because of this I always just walk on in just for the hell of it and check out the selection. At some point last week I snagged this simple but chic pair for $12.49.

This pair is a size 10 and it does fit loosely. But I all I need to do is poke a little extra hole for the buckle and I'll be in business. So the next time you see a pair of shoes that you must have and the sales person ask what size you need, your response should be "What size do you have?"

Naturally I had to get a dress to go with it right? Actually I didn't match them at the time it just happened to work well together, lucky me. I snagged the dress for $9.99 marked down from $25.99.

Here is a neat video on how to stretch leather shoes if they are too tight. So by all means buy that .5 size too small. This trick really works. It worked for me on several occasions.

Okay folks I am impressed with the bargains to be had online at Nordstrom. The best part is most of these items are available in a wide range of sizes. Here are a few under $50 finds that caught my eye

Michael Kors Carney Boots For Less

I love these boots. I can think of about 3 outfits I can wear with these boots, however at a price tag of $295 retail that too steep for my blood. But isn't she beautiful.

For a more affordable option is available from DSW. Granted they are not as sexy but they get the job done. Retail amount $49.95
