I'm Starting to Love Overstock.com!

I'll be on vacation to much much cooler climates starting the 1st week of April. So I've been desperately hunting coats not just for me but for my 3 year old chica as well. So I went to overstock.com per a recommendation from a co-worker to find what I need. I actually bought these a few weeks ago but I got my second order with them just now and I feel inspired to do a post about them and the bargains.

It's like Christmas all year round when I get my online orders. When I received the box, I was convinced they missed one of the coats. There was just no way both of them fit in this little box. With that said, all the items were impeccable packaged and included hangers. So what did I get?

Giacca Women's Asymmetrical Short Wool Coat- $47.99 (in royal)

Kenneth Cole Women's Satin Coat- $46.99 (in black)

I think one of the most valuable features of overstock.com is the consumer reviews.( the $2.95 s&h doesn't hurt either) . I read over each review very carefully not just for these coats but for all the ones that were available in my price range. And being the good shopping citizen I am, I left my review as well. Re: the Kenneth Cole: "I love this coat. It's so warm and comfy. It has that classic look which I expect from Kenneth cole. My only peeve would be the zipper. I had to reallt stuggle to get it unhook at the bottom of the zipper. Detachable faux fur hoodie is very chic not overbearing. I bought a medium which is my usual size. It's true to size so if you're thinking of layering, then get a size up."
Re: the Giacca: !st I just love the color. Everyone that sees me just comments on how great the blue color is. My only complaint would be the fit. It's not aas form fitting as I would like but it does lend some room to layering underneath. Definatley worth the price.

Finally. My Thigh High Boots!

I was on a mission to find the perfect pair of thigh high boots to take on my trip to Atlanta. I means seriously, I went everywhere! In person and online. I was apprehensive to buy them online in fear of getting ill fitting ones. So I went to Off Broadway Shoes at one of my local malls and there it was. These babies

They are the Baby Phat Sarah. They retail at this particular location for $159.60. It was reduced to $69.90. It was in the clearance section so I got an additional 30% off. So grand total was $48.72. I was excited about this because I had budgeted to spend up to $100 if the shoe was right.

I wore it with a black JLo peacoat, black leggings and a gray and black shirt from F21. I also wore it to a nightclub as well. Next time i'm in the "A", I be wearing these again in some other way.

My my my my my..WOW. I think Jenifer Aniston pulled this look off flawlessly. The draping on the dress fits her slender frame perfectly. The theme of this look was simple, simple hair, simple dress, simple make-up, and simple accessories. My only peeve on this is the length of this dress. I wish it was hemmed just a little bit, not too much, but I guess that's the look she was going for. What do you guys think about the dress?

Here's the description: They waited for hours on the opening of the new clothing store and then spilled inside, destroying everything. I'm trying out new ways to update my post more frequently. Usually when I go out on the road, I'll take my camera with me, as long as I can remember it that is. Today I thought why not try out my Blackberry for these on the whim pics. There are many times when I see cute little items and I won't post them because I don't have my camera or it’s inconvenient to snap a pic. So this is my 1st attempt at using my electronic bff, my BB (Blackberry) as a new blogger tool. I'll be trying out the text message posting option as well. Anyway on to the goods. I saw this coat for my little princess and I just couldn't say no. This pic doesn't do any justice to how fab this coat is.

It was $29.99 and I paid full price (GASP!!!!) At much as it almost killed me to do it. I had to buy it. I even walked around the store before picking it up so it wasn't an impulse purchase. It's nice and warm for our trip to London next month.

I just happened to spy these awesome pair of Dollhouse shoes priced at $24.99. I so would've bought them in each color however with the purchase of the coat and other items I couldn't swing it. Dang it!

I must be living under a rock, but I've never been to Loehmann's before. I visited their website and found out about the sale that was running this weekend. So I drove to the next county just to see what the buzz was. All clearance items have an additional discount. Depending on the clearance price, that item will cost $1,$5,$10,$15 etc. For example (this is my lame attempt at remembering the specifics so actual price range may be different, should have written it down sorry) If the clearance tag is from $1-$8.98 you pay $1. If clearance is between $9.98-$16.98 you pay $5 etc. Get it?
I walked out with 4 items, a dress , jeans, skirt and a pair of shoes (naturally).

These shoes are by BCBG, got them for $20.
The dress was a simple wrap by Alice+Olivia marked down to $15. Jeans was Buffalo by David Bitton marked down to $20 from $128.
I didn't spend much time browsing outside of the clearance section but I did see some deep discount on designer duds. Seriously, 7forallmankind jeans were marked down as low as $89 from $298!!!! The price itself may not be considered "frugal" but the savings is. Something really did upset me on this trip though:

Brought Out My Jeans Skirt

I was pretty excited to read that Dillard's would carry Korto designs. She was one of my fave designers on Project Runway. However Dillard's actually only carry her accessories line and the prices, well they are anything but frugal. Jewelry pieces range from $12.00 to $78.00 while handbags range $99.00 to $159.00. The necklaces are pretty beautiful but honestly nothing to make me shout out loud. The handbags are ok as well. The next time I go to the mall, I'm going to check these items out in person. Amber Rose is one of those chicks you just love or loathe. I happen to love her style, well most of the time. Granted she makes some risky and lets be honest, stripper attire, but hey she was a stripper. What can you expect? Her body is banging and I really like her hair. Wow can't believe it's been so long since my last post. I'm happy to report I'm back at 100% after my whole ordeal with influenza. Classes have also been kicking my butt, but I'm glad to back to posting and doing what I love to do.
Today I'm going to address over-the-knee and thigh-high boots. This trend is not new but somehow the lines between hooker wear and chic style has been blurred and quite frankly I love it. I'll be going out of town in a few weeks to colder climates so I now have an urgent need to warmer clothing. I'm taking this as a perfect opportunity to wear said boots and might I add look fierce while doing so.

I love the looks on all these ladies. I'm still desperately hunting for a similar mini dress that Amber Rose is rocking.

True Jackson VP: Mad Style Rider Boots

In case you're not aware, True Jackson VP is the name of Keke Palmer's show that airs on Nickelodeon. I used to love watching All That and Kenan and Kel back in the days. I must admit, I still tune in for a little iCarly fix every now and then. Anywho, Keke's clothing line is called Mad Style and it is sold exclusively at Wal-Mart. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen had a line at Wally World a few years back and it did really well. Mad Style is targeted towards younger girls and early teens. So today I went to Wally to do my usual browsing and I hit jackpot. Not for me, but for my 3 year old daughter. First, How cute is this box?

This pic does nothing for these boots. They are hot in person and may I add I was very upset there was none in my size. This is how much these shoes made my heart flutter. My daughter wears a toddler size 9.5. These shoes only run from a child's 1 to 13. I bought the size 1's for her even though she has about 4 more toddler sizes to go before she can wear these but I don't care. They will be waiting for her. I picked up this pair of pleasure in a box for only $13.

Winter Skin Tips

I've complained before about my ridiculously dry skin. With the temperatures being so low as of late, let’s just say I'm not thrilled. It's now more important than ever to protect your skin from the harsh cold elements. The tips are not record breaking news, however they are important to remember. They are not any particular order.
1. Apply Sunscreen: Not because you can't necessarily see the sun beaming, that doesn't mean it's ok to go frolicking outside without wearing a good sunscreen . The damaging rays still exist and that means protection is still needed. I really like the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 100+. This stuff is really ultra sheer as it claims. One of my pet peeves with sunscreen is that nasty chalky film that’s left on my skin. This is silky smooth. When my mom started using this daily, there was a noticeable improvement on her skin condition.

2. Drink Water: This one is often forgotten. If you're hydrated internally, chances are, external elements will be hydrated as well such as your hair, nails, and skin. Some people like it from the tap; others won't touch it unless it's from a bottle. Whatever your preference, just make sure you're drinking it.

3. Love Your Lips: Let's not forget our kissables. This is the time when they need loving the most. There is nothing sexy about dry chapped lips. Not only is it unattractive but it can be painful. Ever smiled too hard while your lips are dry and it just cracks and bleed a little? Well that can be avoided by keeping it moisturized. I like Beeswax Lip Balm. Its natural, and it really does protect your lips well and helps repair it if you already have some sort of damage. I get the same feel from the tube and the one in the round tin.

4. Evaluate Your Face Wash: Just as you evaluate your attire for an event, your face cleanser should be evaluated as seasons change as well. I find it best to switch to a cleanser that has a moisture element rather than a strip your face clean product. Not saying that your face is any less dirty in the winter, but for me it just doesn't require as much in the cleansing department. Using a cleanser specially formulated for hydration will help that skin tight, dry feeling that sometimes come with a harsh cleanser. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser works really well if you don't have an oliy skin type. This is very mild and does the job. I will say this is no good at removing makeup. For makeup removal you can use baby wipes first or go with the tried and true, Pond's Cold Cream.

5. Moisture Is The Business: It may be obvious to some more than others, but the main point of all these tips is about moisture. Bottom line, it's essential and there's no way around it. My mom, my sister and I all prefer the moisturizers from the L'Oreal line. The Pro-Calcium is tinted so it adds a really nice glow during the day. The night cream is thicker and can actually be used whenever. I use it at night or if I'll be wearing make-up all day, I'll apply it to keep my face moisturized longer.

And that's it folks. These things are very simple. What works for one certainly doesn't work for all. Find the product that works best for your skin and you can't go wrong.

Baby It's Cold Outside

I'm at work updating at this time. I actually had to dig in my mom's closet to find a jacket that is warm enough to contain my body heat. At this point I just want to be home with my daughter, drinking hot chocolate and watching The Sound of Music. Oh and let's not forget my Gator Snuggie!

Black Opal Blemish Control Complexion Bar Review

Try to say the title of this post 5 times fast...I triple dog dare ya. Ok my last Christmas Story quote till next Christmas.

My skin have been doing some really funky things as of late. Not to gross anyone out but let's just say my T-Zone seems to be waging an oily war on my face. My pores are all clogged and to make matters worse my skin is super dry. Seriously, oily and dry at the same time, but I digress. I remember a few years ago I tried the Black Opal Complexion Bar, (which we will simply refer to as "bob" ), because there just wasn't anything else available at the time. I loved the way my skin looked and felt after the wash but this was over 10 years ago. So I went on a mission to find bob because I thought it might help. Mind you I couldn't find this at any of my local african american beauty supply stores but I did at Sally's, go figure.

The packaging is nothing to marvel at. It's made with a cardboard paper combination type thing, very unattractive really. But it's only soap and I placed it in a much more sturdy soap container so no need to spend much time on the horrible wrapping. While lathering, there is a very distinctive smell. I won't say it smells like fields of wild strawberrys, but it doesn't smell like the city dump either. It's just, distinctive. The smell goes away when the face is rinsed so no worries there. It lathers very easily and rinses easily as well. My face feels refreshed and so clean without feeling stripped afterwards. I've used it daily for about a week and there is definitely a difference. My skin is smoother and most surprisingly my dark spots are fading. I have dark spot resulting from my adolescent pimple popping habit. That was a pleasant surprise. I wish I took a pic of the condition of my skin prior to this but I took one today and I will post the before and after next Sunday. So if any of my African readers are looking for a solution for fading dark spots, this may work for you. This retails at my Sally's for $3.29 . So I went to NY&Co to check out their sale. This trip would have been a complete bust had it not been for all the wonderful purses that were on sale. I only bought purses and 2 belts. It took 2 separate trips to 2 different malls but alas I rose victorious. These were my honorable mentions

This is just a few that caught my eye without digging too much. These prices do not include that extra 30% off. As much as I hate paying shipping cost, I just might have to bite the bullet if some of these are not in stores. Shipping would cost me around $10 so if my potential savings of the 30% outweighs the prices i would pay instore plus shipping, it would then be worth it to buy online. I'll still go to the mall tomorrow with my calculator and pen in hand to compare prices and check how the sizes fit.

My, this year just flew by. So many things happened this year that undoubtedly affected many people. So what have we learned and how will we apply this knowledge into the future. My knowledge of fashion and putting pieces together has taken on a whole new light thanks to the awesome blogs, magazines and just random people I see on the street. I can truly appreciate the individuality that goes into each look. School for me starts again in January and as excited as I am to be finishing my undergrad work, I'm pretty hyped about actually going to class and being able to be more creative in the things that I wear. My typical class uniform, yes uniform, includes jeans and a tee, that’s it. No accessories no make-up usually oh and lets not forget the signature black flip flops.

Yea, pretty drab. Not much inspiration here. But this can easily become so much more with a few additions and simple changes.

This is much better. I think it looks way more thought out but it's not over doing it for an early morning class.

Ok Charlotte Russe is quickly becoming on of my "must stops" whenever I hit the mall. I've been on a roll with them lately on the bargain tip. I bought a super chic black blazer at New York and Company a few weeks back but I've been on the hunt for another one with more character.
So I stumbled across this baby.

I loved the sexy shape I had in it and also the deep plum colour was quite delicious.

And my favorite part was the price. $9.99 marked down from ~~$36.99.~~ What a steal! I will say that my only hang up with this blazer are the buttons. They look very cheap but that is an easy fix. I will find better buttons and so a quick alteration.

If You Like It And It's On Sale: Throw A Belt On It

Yes I am fully aware of how corny the title of this post is. Hey I get corny sometimes..ha . But among the "clever" title, there is a true lesson to be learned. A belt is one of the most important accessories for an outfit. Case in point. I went to Target yesterday for a gift bag, yes a gift bag. Anywho I went to the clothing section to the 75% off rack and there was this dress:

Obviously this dress is too big. 3 sizes too big to be exact.

I had a dilemma!! The size is wrong but the price is oh so right. What to do?!?!?

You guessed it, throw a belt on it

Yes this is the same exact size dress. I just grabbed a belt prior to fitting to test how I liked it. Now this probably won't work if you're a size 8 and want to buy a size 16 however it will in most reasonable cases. Some dresses based on the design cuts will not be forgiving when it comes to "belting", but you won't know until you try.

I have been pleasantly surprised and perplexed by the exact science of shoe sizes. My go-to size is a 9. However, I can fit 8.5 up to size 10 comfortable. And to complicate the matter further, my right foot is in some cases a .5 size bigger than the left. I'm weird I know. Unfortunately this makes it a little harder for me to be confident when buying shoes online. Charlotte Russe always puts their last sizes on sale at 50% off so because of this I always just walk on in just for the hell of it and check out the selection. At some point last week I snagged this simple but chic pair for $12.49.

This pair is a size 10 and it does fit loosely. But I all I need to do is poke a little extra hole for the buckle and I'll be in business. So the next time you see a pair of shoes that you must have and the sales person ask what size you need, your response should be "What size do you have?"

Naturally I had to get a dress to go with it right? Actually I didn't match them at the time it just happened to work well together, lucky me. I snagged the dress for $9.99 marked down from $25.99.

Here is a neat video on how to stretch leather shoes if they are too tight. So by all means buy that .5 size too small. This trick really works. It worked for me on several occasions.

Get Me Bodied: Start Of My New Workout Plan

All I hear in my mind is Beyonce's Get Me Bodied over and over and over , you get the point. So I've been not so happy with my physical stature and I've decided to work more diligently to achieve what I want. My issue isn't the number on the scale its more specific areas that I feel can be much better, more toned if you will. Abs, arms and legs will be my main focus. I really want to stick to it this time so I need some help. Any tips suggestions etc from you guys will be awesome.
I need to look super cute while sweating. It can be done. I see people jogging in my community all the time and I love what they're wearing. They are dressed in appropriate work out attire and do I dare say stylish while doing it.

I have yet to see an average looking person modeling workout clothes. Seriously they are already fit so naturally it already looks good on them. I've done some searching and I'll be at my local Ross or maybe TJ Maxx for some quality items.

So on to my game plan.

I've used Pilates before and had awesome results. It helped me to drop my baby weight after my daughter was born. I'm hoping to get similar results this time around. It only requires 3 days a week with 20 minutes each. It wasn't hard at all I just wish they had better music. Hopefully I'll get some proper clothes and sneakers tomorrow so I can take my before pics. If not I'll take some before pics anyway. I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it........

Product Review: Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara

I'm glad to back as I missed blogging dearly. I did a post about a month ago about some products that I wanted to try. I actually bought all but 1 within a week of posting. This weekend was the first time that I used the CG Lash Blast Mascara. Let's start with the packaging. I love the bright orange color of the tube however the tube itself is very wide and not "small clutch" friendly. The plastic tube was fairly easy to hold. I'm used to the rubber feeling of my MAC volume mascara so I sort of wished that this one had that same texture. The wand was big but not unmanageable. I was able to use it easily for the bottom and inner lashes without much effort. This mascara works like a dream. It added length and volume to my lashes without clumping. I haven't tested it in wet conditions so I can't comment on it being waterproof or not however the package doesn't claim it to be waterproof. This product gets a Frugal Chic Depot APPROVED!

Ok well not quite today's but actually yesterday. Anyways, I was delighted to see that Target had a couple of sales racks and I went straight to work. Let me just say that great quality at low prices can be found almost anywhere and Target is one of those places. I remember wearing a dress one day and someone asked me where I bought it, I told that person it was from Target and she said and I quote "You buy clothes from Target?" My response was "and you don't?" The point of that is, don't be a store snob. Target and yes even Walmart have items that are made by designers that are of excellent quality. Mixing high end retailers and the lower end ones can still help you achieve whatever look it is you are trying to achieve. Why spend $25 on a simple tank top, when you can get it for more than half the price somewhere else. This isn't to say that you should skimp on quality just for the price, but you should keep your shopping mind open. OK now on to the good stuff.

Gone Too Soon

I can't begin to express my sadness right now. I've lost another friend this week and I’m truly saddened by the whole ordeal. He succumbed to his illness and was finally set free. I really want to just take the time and encourage us all to reflect on life and try our best to do exactly what it is that we love. Do the things we love, and most importantly love the people we love. Too often time goes by and calls are never made or visits are never made etc. We say I'll come by next week or I'll call next time when I'm not too busy. The truth is time is not on our side. We should be more diligent to enjoy our passions and share them with others. In light of every thing that’s happening I will not be updating this weekend. Cover Girl Exact Highlights Eye-Brighting Mascara

I was at work tonight speaking with my co-worker about one of our accounts and my eyes caught her eyes and I was immediately curious. I proceeded to ask her if she was wearing falsies (fake eye lashes) and to my astonishment, she wasn't. Seriously, her lashes almost touched her eyebrows! Ok, gross exaggeration here but it was that serious. I asked her what mascara she uses and she whipped this baby out of her purse

She had the black gold tube and she loves it. I'm currently in love with the Lash Blast line by Cover Girl, but I’m curious about this one now. This product claims to make you "get 4x brighter eyes". I cannot say I noticed her eyes being any brighter but the length was awesome. There was not a single clump on her lashes. It worked almost like a good bra, lift and separate. No doubt I’ll be watching the sales ad for this. Anyone have any experience with this mascara?

Product Reveiw: Revlon Naturally Chic Press On Nails

I found myself struggling this weekend to do everything that I needed to do before I left for my trip. This included getting my nails done. I remember reading some reviews about Revlon's press-on nails and felt it was a good time to try them out.

I got the short French tip pack. It comes with 36 tips, glue, manicure stick and a file. The instructions say to buff your nail then apply glue to tips and apply pressure( i'm paraphrasing here). I recommend getting some help on this. Simply because it'll be easier to get the air bubbles out. I found that applying more glue than what may be required, reduces the air bubbles, however it encouraged a messier finish.

This is it semi finished prior to be cleaning the edges and removing excess glue. My nail beds felt sore for about 2 days after applying these. Maybe I was pressing them too hard, who knows. Once it was all finished I was pleased. Unless someone deeply inspected my nails up close, it wasn't obvious that these were not acrylic nails. They lasted for about 4 days but in all fairness I was using my hands extensively while wearing them. Had I not been doing manual labor they may have lasted about 5-6 days. My favorite part of using this was the way my nails looked upon removal. I don't get acrylic on my nails due to the damage it does to my nails. This left my nails almost at its original state and completely repaired itself by 2 days of it being off. Considering a full set could cost up to $30.00 the $7.59 I spent on this was definitley worth it.

The Holidays Are Almost Here..........Again

Ahhhhhh the holidays, it just happens to be my favorite time of year. It just seems like people are generally in a good mood. I love it. It's also an excuse to shop and show some appreciation for the people that you love and adore. Holiday shopping can definitely turn from a joyous experience to a rushed nightmare. I believe holiday gift shopping should be conducted year round. Why? Because the holiday deals generally aren't that great depending on the items. If you keep your list of people in mind while you do your own personal shopping you're more likely able to strike a great bargain. Because you're not on a time restraint, its easier to walk away from a not so good price. Waiting for the last minute puts you in the "so what if its $5 more that what I wanted to spend, I'm buying it anyway mode." $5 times 20 gifts puts you at $100 you could've saved. That's money that can be used for other gifts or even donated to a charity. It's now over 40 days before the holiday season begins. So let's get to it.

ELF Already At Target!!!

I read on the net that some Target stores were already carrying the Elf line. I was sort of bummed when I realized I would be traveling when the line was launching so I went into my local "tarjay" to see if they were at my store and lo and behold it was. It was an end shelf display and the prices ranged from, of course $1.00 to $10.00 for boxed sets.

Naturally most of the $1.00 items were already gone, dang folks work fast. It was mostly brushes based on the label. The packages were $3.00, $5.00 and $10.00 and in true Elf fashion, the price corresponds with the amount of items in the pack respectively.

One of the $10.00 packs included brushes applicators, false lashes, eyeshadow etc.

I didn't purchase anything on this trip to Target, but I will when I return next week.

Challenge Days 3 and 4

I had to re-create day 3's outfit after work today due to the camera issues I was having. The only thing I did to the romper was belt it with my fave belt. I didn't wear the flip flops or necklace i'm wearing in this pic on day 3. I wore the same sandals from New York and Company as I did on day 2.

My camera is going nuts right now. The charger is not charging my battery so I'm unable to post pics of day 3 and 4 of the challenge. I asked the bestie to loan me her camera while I figure this stuff out. I'll re-create day 3's look and I'll take the pic of today’s look later on. Now on to the good stuff. I chose this item for the challenge

This is a romper from Forever 21. I bought this on my last trip to Orlando 2 weeks ago. It was on sale for $6.99. I believe the original price was somewhere around $22 or so. I would've never picked this out on an ordinary, but I felt the need to do something different than what I have been doing. I will say I don't like rompers but this changed my mind. It was so diverse and the fabric was very light, this was very important when it came to washing. Because I wore this to the theme park in the hot sun everyday, I had to wash this daily. I hand washed it and dried it in a towel then hung it on a hanger. It was completely dry by the next morning.

DAY 1
Nothing extra special here

This was my 1st day at Disney. I wore the romper with shorts and a black belt, both from New York and Company. Flip flops is standard Florida attire for me. They are black from Old Navy. P.S. The Minnie ears were not an intentional part of the outfit..ha ha ha

DAY 2
I love the look I got on this day.

The sweater was a gift from my sister, shades from Roca Wear earrings and bracelet from Charlette Russe, belt and sandals from New York and Company. I actually got the sandals on sale for $2.99!

I missed you guys. I had THE BEST WEEKEND EVER!!!!!! I could bore you all with the details and maybe I will at some point. I am happy to report I completed the challenge. I wore the same item for all 3 days I was traveling and I'm motivated to keep it going. I'm wearing it to work tomorrow; I wonder how long I can keep it going. I just wanted to check in really quickly with everyone. I still haven't unpacked or uploaded my pics but I promise I'll have pics tomorrow.

Eyes, Lips and Face otherwise known as ELF, have been on the scene since 2004. ELF offers make-up and make-up accessories for amazingly low prices. Most of their items are just a $1.00 each. I've been reading up on ELF for the last couple of weeks and I’m really curious. I'm always looking for quality products at a lower price than what I'm currently paying. The reviews are mixed when it comes to ELF. Mostly good things, but there are still some concerns such as shipping time frames and items that are missing in the orders. ELF has been featured in Allure, Cosmo, Essence and Glamour just to name a few. So this had me thinking, what’s the deal with ELF? I was too cheap to spring on the shipping charges and the aforementioned shipping issues held back my curiosity, but now my wait is over. ELF is coming to target on November 1. I'm pretty excited about this even though I've never used the product line before. Don't worry; I will be bringing the scoop when it hits the self. Anyone have any experience with the line?

It's Friday! New Challenge!

I'm super excited and sad all at the same time this weekend. Tomorrow would have been my significant other's 25th birthday. Unfortunately he's no longer here to celebrate with me. On a happier note, I'm traveling back to Orlando this weekend to see one of my all time favorite group perform, BOYZ II MEN!!!
Shawn, Wanya and Nathan will be gracing Orlando Florida with their musical talents. I've been waiting a whole year for this and I'm so happy it's finally here. This is the silver lining of my very dark cloud this weekend and I am so grateful. I barely unpacked from my last trip to Orlando and now I have to do it all over again. Ladies I am not a light packer at all. I always seem to over pack, even when I make a conscious effort not to. Keyword “effort”. By the time my shoes and jeans go in, I’m already full. But this time I want to challenge myself. Can I pull off 1 item in 3 ways? Ok this is very ambitious of me but why not give it a try? Sure it’s not as monumental as pulling it off 31 ways, but I’m new at this give me a break!

So as I was doing my usual browsing of The YBF to get my gossip fix, I stumbled upon a post about the 2009 Black Girl Rocks Awards. I've never heard of this before but I love what it's all about. African American artist are sometimes overlooked in the grand scheme of things in the industry while other who have the notoriety and do shameful things to draw unnecessary attention, I digress. Anyway Tracee Ellis Ross was the host this year and she looked flawless. I mean seriously chick’s body is AH-MAZING!!! Let's forget for a minute that her dress is banging and go a little south to check out her foot work. She is rocking the Yves Saint Laurent Imperiale Pumps! These shoes are beautiful. I love the feminine shape of the shoe. It retails at $795 at Saks if your wallet can afford the hit, but you guys know mine can't.

It's about Valerie Elizabeth, a stylist that decided to wear 1 item, a little black dress, for 31 days. She went through items that she already had and created 31 different looks. I was impressed by the way she presented the pieces in ways I wouldn't think of. I picked some of her looks that I really liked

Ok so maybe not a full year but definitely a milestone I feel is worthy of mention. I've been blogging for 1 month officially. It may not be a big deal to some seasoned veterans out there but this is important to me. I'm notorious for starting projects and just getting bored with them and sort of just stopping. I quite honestly didn't expect that I would keep up with this thing but the bottom line is, I love It. I've been through a very difficult time recently with the passing of my husband, the love my life, the father of my child and so much more I can't begin to describe everything he was to me. It has been and still is extremely difficult to deal with. Blogging has enabled me to have an outlet and keep me busy. It gives me a reason to do things I already love to do and share my opinions with others who care to read it.

So to commemorate this occasion, I figured I'll do an intro of myself and formally present me to my readers. I'm a 24 yr old student and migrated from Jamaica and currently reside in South Florida. I'm majoring in Business Administration and hope to be completed by fall of next year. I have an almost 3yr old daughter that keeps me very busy and active. I've recently over the past few years started getting an interest in fashion. Not so much high fashion, but fashion looks that can be acquired easily and at the least cost. I also love make-up and the same cost rules apply there. I don't wear it everyday however when I do, I enjoy creating something new. I'm always looking for ways to improve on things I already like to do. I love music and R&B is definitely my favorite genre. I love old school and semi new R&B as well. I like to attend concerts and shows and try to go as often as possible. So that’s a little about me and hopefully that helps to know me a little better. Follicle Times

So since my last or first Follicle Times update, I've since then did a mini chop on my hair. As I discussed before my hair was dry and my ends were badly damaged. I was so very reluctant to do this but the minute the inches were cut off, my hair immediately had movement. No seriously, my hair was no longer limp and dead. It actually looks fuller and do I dare say, healthier. I got so very excited; I wanted to take more off. I was swinging it and swaying it, almost like a Herbal Essences commercial. I had to exercise some serious self control with the scissors. Cutting my hair was one of the best things I could've done for my strands.

Point of Note: I don't know what's going on within the red circle. It seems that my hair just disappeared here. I'm going to try the Jamaican Castor Oil in this area and see if there is a difference.

No doubt this dress makes a bold statement. You may like it, you may not but inspiration can be found in anything, even if it isn't exactly your style. I personally wouldn't wear this dress. I can't possible think of an occasion I could attend where this would be ok. However I love the colors, the peacock feathers and let’s check out the foot work for minute, OUCH, they're hot. They're like Herve Leger for the feet. If you can appreciate the peacock look, you can try this muted twist on the peacock dress which is much more appropriate for everyday wear.

You can also add a belt to this dress to really create a nice silhouette of your body.

Beauty Reveiw: Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask

I've read rave reviews from several blogs and hair forums about this Deep Conditioner. The Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask is said to "rehabilitates extra dry or over-processed hair with intense moisturization." I've used this mask several times and I'm comfortable enough with the results to review it.

This stuff smells delicious. Seriously it does. It has like a citrus smell to it that I really like. The texture is very thick so you really don't need tons of it for a decent coverage. This product made my hair a tangled mess. The last time I used it, I did a 2 minute reconstructor right before applying this. I felt like it undid everything my reconstructor had done. This is very interesting because my hair likes this stuff when I have a fresh relaxer. My hair hasn't had a relaxer in about 12 weeks now so it’s very coarse and dry. I am unable to give an approved rating for this because of the different results I get depending on the status of my hair. I will keep it around and only use it within 6 weeks of a relaxer.

I posted Closet Wants about a week ago and so far I've been keeping the items on the list in mind when I do my shopping. This weekend I had the great pleasure of seeing Eric Benet perform. I had no idea what I was going to wear. I threw some wardrobe elements together and I must say I loved the way it turned out. This was the very first time I've worn tights this way. I decided to channel my inner Sheila over at Ephemera with the tights and fdiary at Budget Chic with my belt and this was the end result.

Leather jackets and the basic punk rock look seem to be all the rage right now. Luckily for frugal divas such as us there are more affordable ones on the market. Obviously they aren't genuine leather however these faux ones are excellent. Each of these jackets was found at Marshalls and the best part is the price. Each one is $29.99. The pics seem to be a little dull but these jackets are definitely worth it.

Ok seriously. Holy mother of God. These shoes are pure hotness. I mean nothing but perfection. Leopard print and lace, together in one shoe, my heart cannot take this. This is the Christian Louboutin Bridget. It retails at Barneys for $1795.00. What the little frugal diva inside of me is going to do, is wait for Steve Madden or Bakers to make a more affordable option and I just may splurge on it.

Here is another version of the shoe retailing at $3325. It's called Bridget Strass. I prefer the Leopard print tho.

Money Matters: Sticking to a Shopping Budget

I'm going out of town this weekend with my bestie and I can't wait. It has truly been an extremely difficult time for both us and we need this break desperately. We're going to Orlando this week for some much needed "us" time and also to see Eric Benet perform. I usually visit Orlando 4-6 times annually. My mom and I absolutely love Disney and I’m trying to get my daughter addicted as well..lol Anyway Orlando has ample amounts of outlet shopping available. I haven't discussed my obsession with Coach and Dooney and Bourke purses before but let's just say it's unhealthy. When I see these purses deeply discounted, I lose all common money sense. Just thinking of all the temptation I am about to encounter, inspired me to do a post about budgeting.

The easiest way for me to stay on budget while shopping is using good ole cash. This has worked best for me in the past. I have not had a debit card in over 2 years because I found I spent more money on day to day expenses with my debit card. The cash or envelope system is simple. Pick a budget point and only carry that cash on you. Once you're out of cash then all shopping stops. This forces me to be more selective with the items that I do buy and not overspend beyond my means.

Save on Lunch: Day 2 and 3

Don't worry, I have been keeping up with not buying lunch daily. Yesterday (day 2), I brought my turkey left overs from day 1. Today (day 3) I made oxtails and rice and peas. Day 2 and Day 3 total saved was $21.74 combined. Not bad.

Today I visited NY&Co to see if I can take advantage of the new up to 70% off sale and also to use my coupon discussed in this post. I was more impressed with the sale items this time around. Beutiful 50% off signs were all over and I loved every second of it. I bought 10 items in total today and my total was $43.90. Between the store markdowns and my coupon i saved....... wait for it.................. $195.72

A couple of things are taking place with NY&Co as of today.
1. The previous clearance items are now up to 70% off. I browsed online and noticed that a few of the items I featured and purchased in this post and this post, has been marked down even further.
2. The discount threshold has changed. Before it was "Take $30 OFF $75 purchase or $50 OFF $125" now it's "Take $20 OFF $60 purchase or $40 OFF $120 purchase. It's only a $5 difference for the lowest amount but with better markdowns on the items you should be able to get more bang for your buck.

The last time I visited NY&Co, I was given 2 city cash passes. They usually give out 1 but I had a little "tiff" and got a second one for my issue. Anyway, not sure if they'll be giving them out again but I'll report tomorrow if they do.

My work week actually starts on Tuesday so this is my day 1 for lunch. I'm Jamaican so many of my choices this week will directly reflect my culture and the types of food that we eat. I'm also taking this opportunity to cook more. I realized that I can actually cook Jamaican food very well, better than I actually thought. I do have some work to do but with more practice, I'll be dangerous. Anyway today I made quick rice and peas, turkey necks and cabbage medley. This is not an actual pic of my meal just something I found online. I would've spent $8.21 on lunch today. Did anyone else save today?

Awesome find at Charlotte Russe

On my previous post I discussed some items I would like to add to my wardrobe. One of those items was dresses. Most of my dresses are not even close to casual and I felt it was necessary to expand on the casual dress look. I was doing my usual mall browsing and stopped into Charlotte Russe. They had a $10 dress rack and of course I just glided my way over to it. I walked out of there with a winner today.

Ok. This picture does absolutely nothing for the dress. It's gorgeous. The colors are so vibrant and the fabric feels so rich. This dress was a little big I will admit, but I loved the dress so much I don't really care. It was only a little loose in the breast area, nothing a good bra can't fix.

Closet Wants

I realized after looking at some inspirations blogs today that I don't need to shop more, just smarter. I've seen several fellow bloggers wear dresses as tops or as a skirt etc. I'm also realizing that leggings are a good thing. It can be worn without looking cheesy or cheap. I've picked out a few items that I would like to incorporate with my existing pieces.

1. Belts varying in size and colors
2. Leggings that vary in colors and styles
3. Scarves, ok I live in FL but I could work it out
4. Dresses
5. More flats including sandals. I love my heels but every occasion does not call for heels unfortunately.

I love eating out. I like trying new restaurants and trying my favorite foods prepared differently. I cook every once in a blue moon when I get the urge or if it's requested of me. Going out to eat everyday for lunch is becoming quite costly and becoming an unnecessary expense at this point. So this week "Save Challenge" is going to be on takeout. No more Chinese or Pollo Tropical etc. I probably spend about $40 or more weekly on lunch. That $120 per month!! That's insane. I could be saving that money to take maybe a mini vacation or just plain saving it. So for this week starting on Monday, in addition to normal posting I'll be posting about what I cooked and how much I've saved by not eating out. At the end of the week I'll deposit that amount into my savings account. Feel free to join in and share your savings as well.

I have a beautiful 3 year old toddler who I just love to dress up. It may be hard to believe but I shop more for her than I do for me. Her shoe game is crazy right now for one reason only, it's cheaper. Seriously I can get most of her shoes for usually between $2.99 and $10.00 quite easily with the right sale. .Clothes is also fairly inexpensive as well. I try not to spend over $15 on any single item unless it's a designer brand. Every now and then I will feature some buys that I get for her for all my readers who are moms as well.
