Haiti Needs Our Help

I first want to say I'm very proud of the support my company has shown in light of these tragic events. We donated $250,000 to aid in relief efforts. We are also waiving the transaction fees associated with making donations through an approved charity listed at USAID.GOV. The company is also matching employee contribution $1 for $1 as well. I urge anyone who have not donated to do so if it is within your means. If you are unable to help monetarily or physically, please offer the spiritual and emotional support. Call someone you know who may have family and friends that are in Haiti. Pray with them and offer moral support if you can. You can offer more help by:
1. Text "HAITI" to "90999" and a donation of $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts, charged to your cell phone bill.
2. Text “Yele” to 501501, which will automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund (it will be charged to your cell phone bill), or you can CLICK HERE to donate.
3. If you have had previous disaster assistance experience or formally trained such as an EMT’s, Nurses of all levels, Fire Fighters etc, you can register to be considered for possible deployment to Haiti to assist the relief effort. To register your skills and experience for a possible volunteer opportunity, go to the Center for International Disaster Information's registration page
4. Encourage your place of employment to encourage philanthropy in this time of need.
5. Please be careful of scammers. Make sure the organization you are legitimate. There are some poor unfortunate souls you are scheming to make a quick buck by preying on the kindhearted.

On a sidenote: Huge Big Ups (for the non island folks, "big up" means props... lol) to Wyclef Jean and his charity, YELE,for raising over 1 million dollars through text donation ALONE!!!! That's what I'm talking bout people. I need my Jamaican massive to show some love as well. Some parts of Jamaica felt tremors from this earthquake and luckily there was no damage. This could have easily been my country or yours. Think about it!

  1. Me and my sister have given through AT&T and Wyclek YELE foundation. Money is really starting to come in for Haiti and I'm so glad because the "people of Haiti"really need that help. I just pray that it goes into the hands of poor citizens who really need help, like struggling women who are the head of their families, the elderly and the children and NOT into the hands of the corrupt political system there. We can only hope!

  2. I agree. Too may times donations don't go directly to the cause. Hopefully this will not be the case.
